08-VG6404 Female Snowy Plover sitting on three eggs in a nest. The nest is just a depression in the sand that the male makes. This image was taken with a 2200mm focal length optical system positioned about 18 to 20 feet from the nest. This 16MP full 35mm frame image is not cropped. See 08-VG6467 for hardware setup.

08-VG6467 Snowy Plover nesting site. This image illustrates why the Snowy Plover nests are so hard to see. Red arrow points to nest in middle of staked off area. This staked off area is intended to keep people that may not see the nest from stepping on it and destroying the eggs. The lens in this photo is an Astrophysics 155 with an 1100mm focal length. A 2X extender is used and gives a working focal length of 2200mm. This rather long optical system is working as a macro lens even though it is positioned about 18 to 20 feet from the nest. The two previous images were taken with this setup.
